Two Methods to Rule the World
  By : Awdhesh Singh

The concept of ruler is ingrained in human civilization. Mankind may be the only specie that requires rulers to survive. There is no civilization in the history of mankind which did not have a ruler. The concept of ruler had been continuously changing over time. In earlier time, Kings used to rule the society or the population of his kingdom. These appointments of kings used to be hereditary and they were often believed to be the representation of God on Earth having the divine right to rule.

With the advent of democracy, the very concept of ruler changed and the people decided their own ruler amongst themselves demolishing the concept of divine right to rule by any individual or his family. The communists have different method of rule where the rulers were decided by the communist party and not by the people directly.

However, irrespective of the method of election, rulers always meant the most powerful person of the society. They ruled by the application of force over the people. Since power and application of force has been typically associated with masculinity, almost all rulers had been men only. Yet we have started witnessing the trend of women occupying the most powerful position in many countries. Today many countries are ruled by woman.

As per the “Worldwide Guide to Women in Leadership” , Sirivamo Bandaranaike of Sri Lanka became the worlds first female elected Premier Minister in 1960 and in 1974 Isabel Perón of Argentina became the first woman President - one woman had been Acting Head of Government and two women Acting Heads of State before that. As of now, there are 192 members of the United Nations, 2 independent states outside, a few self-declared de-facto independent states and many self-ruling States. 24 have got female leaders at the moment.

The change is visible all around. The high representation of woman can be seen everywhere. It was woman power all the way in the Indian Civil Services 2009 when they took the top three positions in one of the toughest competitive exams in India.

Often questions are raised about the capability of women to rule the country or even a private sector organization as females do not have the same level of “killing stint” as the male species are supposed to have.

The Job of A Ruler

It is important to understand the reasons why mankind can not live without ruler. The main job of a ruler is to make a large number of people behave in an organized manner so as to maximize the benefits for the members of the society, group or the organization. It means that all activities that harm the group must be constrained and all activities that benefit the society must be promoted. The rules and laws of a country are meant to achieve the goal. The job of the ruler is to ensure that people follow the law even when it may not be in their best personal interest.

In an organization too the head of the organization has to ensure that people do their job in a manner that helps the organization achieve its objective. A good leader or ruler is one who can get the work done from his people for the best interest of the organization.

Two Methods to Rule

It has been a conventional wisdom that people do right thing only when they fear the State power and they are sure about the punishment. Even in a family the job of discipline is often assigned to the father who forces the children and often the mother to follow his dictates. He is also quite often the sole earning member of the family so all the financial powers lies with him.

Yet women had been able to acquire the power without being powerful. They have often controlled not only the children but also the husband. In a typical family, the wishes of the mother are not less complied with as compared to the wishes of the father.

It is not easy to understand the feminine method to rule this world unless we understand the design of nature to divide the species into male and female sexes. The males have ruled the world by power and force as they had been physically more powerful than their female species. Therefore, females discovered a new method to rule where power was not important.

The feminine always represented the opposite of masculinity. They represented love, compassion and service. They acquired their predominant position in the society by serving each member of their family. They have learned the art of understanding each member of the family and accordingly they made them desire to do the work rather than forcing them to do the world.

The female species always believed in the power of attraction rather than the power of force which invariably leads to hatred and repulsion. So they make themselves desirable by looking good so that males desire them and feel tempted to meet them. They typically spend more time to understand other human beings so that they can become an instrument of fulfilling their desires and thereby make them fulfill her desire.

Therefore, the females ruled without application of force based on love and compassion.

The feminine method of administration

In a civilized world, people are gradually realizing the futility of the masculine method of ruling which essentially means the application of force and the rule by creating fear. While people do not mind applying force on others, they never want force to be applied against themselves. Yet being driven by masculine desire to rule, the male rulers never cared what the ruled felt. However, in modern days, the most successful entrepreneurs and rulers are avoiding the use of force and applying the feminine method of leading the originations which means understanding the need of people and fulfilling them in a nonviolent manner.

The rise of democracy all over the world is the first proof of the rise of the feminine method of ruling. A democratically elected President or Prime Minister is not supposed to rule but he is supposed to serve. The people do not to be ruled by despotic rulers and they had been rejecting all such democratically elected governments who try to “rule” rather than “serve”. The adoption of democracy by more and more country is an ample proof that “ruling by serving” is going to rule the future world.

Ruling by Servicing

It is not easy to rule the people as their elected servant unless people learn the feminine method of ruling. Males are often confused once they are elected as President as they do not know how they can rule without applying force against their masters, the people of their country.  Therefore, the rise in the number of female leaders should not be surprising because as females have a natural talents of ruling by service. As the humanity evolves, it has to become more humane and a more human society can not be created by force. Thus only a feminine method of ruling the world can lead to a more humane and compassionate society.  It is, therefore, better than the males too learn the art of love, compassion and service which had been associated with feminine gender in the past.
