Who Are You Doing It For?
In my country I see bumper stickers that say “Do it for Jesus”. What? I say to myself. Jesus said “Whatever you do to the least of them, you do to me.” But we have misconstrued this sentence. We use this sentence as an excuse. We think if we do it for Jesus he will be proud of us or we will gain one more favor from heaven.
I say “Do it for others”, which is part of the message Jesus left us.
There is another bumper sticker that says “Jesus Saves”.
Does this mean we can do whatever we want and Jesus will save us anyway? A great deal of people understand this saying, but there are ignorant people (in an uneducated way) who put this sticker on their cars and have no idea if the person behind them understands the entirety of this message.
I do not know if other religions say anything like this regarding their idea of God.
In any event do we do things for reward? Do we do things for recognition? Sorry to say, “Yes we do.”
Unconditional giving is as powerful as the making of a galaxy. It is as powerful as the time when mountains pushed themselves up from the earth to show themselves. It is as important as the weed that struggles and makes its way through a crack in hard cement. It is as powerful as trickling water that trickles for years over a rock and eventually cuts through it creating a new look. Water creates, so why not us?
Let us create our own personal diary of giving no matter who knows. This is what Jesus meant when he said, “Never let your right hand know what your left hand is doing.”
Never brag about what you have done when you go out of your way for someone. Don’t even share in secret to a friend. These are the gifts we send to the Creator in silence.
The Creator remembers. The universe gathers all that is said, transmitted through wires, waves, currents, and thoughts. Are yours among them? Are your secrets sent in secret to the Creator?
Don’t sit there as a child struggles to do something. Get up and help. Don’t allow your child to be taught something against your beliefs. Get involved.
Our children are our future. Our children are the future governments, the future scientists, the future philosophers, the future parents, the future teachers, the future priests, gurus, Ministers, Rabbis, and men of all deep faith who hold the people steady to their own culture and beliefs.
Teach your children the science of the universe that works along side God uniting all things. Give them a fully rounded look at God and Science. In my country book the school text books are full of lies. Things have been twisted and omitted. This is done by egotistic, self centered leaders in education. Our history has been distorted. Our religion has been distorted.
I grew up and was taught to believe that I had an Original Sin on my innocent soul. Later I discovered that the concept of Original Sin was originated in the third century by St. Augustine.
I spent my life thinking I had this huge ugly sin on my soul. What a damaging thing to do to children.
Thanks be to God I found a book called “Original Blessing” by Matthew Fox. In the book he cites beautiful sayings from Catholic Saints from Orthodox, Protestant Saints and wonderful enlightened normal people of all faiths. I read this book weekly. It’s a kind of “make me feel good” book.
It showed me how innocent I was born. It teaches me to keep that innocence. This innocence is like a gold nugget to me. I treasure it and wish I could put my arms around it. Keep the children innocent. Teach them nothing about past wars. These are in the past and we need to go straight ahead and live the future. We cannot live the past. It can be dangerous. It can disrupt the innocence of a child or even an adult.
Let us go forward with Morning Love and sustain it throughout the day.
